The effect of irradiation on the Cs, Co and Eu-removal from aqueous solutions using Greek minerals

Abstract Sorption properties of Greek bentonites and zeolites were investigated in raw form after irradiation for removal Cs, Co Eu from aqueous solutions using 137 60 152 as tracers γ-spectroscopy. The sorption experiments undertaken under different conditions (pH, concentration, competitive ions temperature). structural changes the sorbents due to metal examined through XRD, FTIR SEM/EDS. isotherms reproduced by mathematical models thermodynamic parameters derived. results showed that capacity was slightly affected irradiation. environmental compatibility tests proved safe disposal materials.
